On the iPhone, the Maps application fades in the map tiles gracefully. Now you can get it for the desktop!
I made a little userscript that should work in Chrome and Safari. (Sorry, Firefox! This uses @-webkit-keyframes, since Mozilla doesn’t support CSS Animation yet.) It’s not perfect, but not bad for four lines of JavaScript!
